Ellie Goldberg, Jessica Brangiel. Jess Denke. Carol Howe. Stephanie Pennucci, Paul Proces. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acrldvc.org\/news\/2017\/11\/06\/acrl-dvc-board-meeting-minutes-september-2017\/\">September meeting minutes<\/a>\u00a0 approved. \u00a0They will be posted to the blog. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next board meeting will be Friday, November 10, 2017. \u00a0This is the final board meeting before the fall program and will be held virtually. \u00a0Meeting time &#8211; 3pm. \u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Going forward board meetings will be held mostly virtually as long as there are no board member objections. \u00a0A face to face meeting isn\u2019t ruled out to be held say in the summer. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Voting board members were asked to read and vote on student essays by Wednesday, October 26th. \u00a0Jess will follow up with the essay winner. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After obtaining permission from the student essay winner Penny will post the winning essay to the blog. \u00a0The selected student will also be recognized at the fall program. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spring 2018 program:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Topic will be on communication and outreach. \u00a0Muhlenberg is set for the location. \u00a0We would like to announce the date at the spring program. \u00a0Is there enough time to pull together a membership committee to plan the spring program? \u00a0Might be better to secure a committee of members to plan the next fall (2018) program instead<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nancy will follow up with Penny regarding spring program dates at Muhlenberg <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ACRL speakers bureau:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ACRL will send a national board member to come speak at a chapter program, application needs to be submitted soon. \u00a0Can we incorporate the themes of the ACRL speaker into the spring meeting? <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Fall program: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We now have four panelists, latest edition is John Sullivan, Muhlenberg professor who studies mass media and influence on political discourse. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nancy has followed up with Tom Ipri, moderator for the panel. \u00a0He would find it helpful if questions were provided to him in advance. \u00a0Ellie and Nancy will follow up with Tom further. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Questions will be provided to panelists by November 1. \u00a0Ellie will start a Google doc to which all board members can contribute questions. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Catering is set, several vegetarian options. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PaLA grant was approved. \u00a0Jess is handling the paper program for the event.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caterers need a week\u2019s notice for final head count. \u00a0Cut off date for registration will be November 10th. \u00a0We have 39 signed up as of 10\/19\/17. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We need a volunteer to be the lightning round moderator\/timer (make signs.) \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Event streaming is a possibility but at $100 per hour. \u00a0Event recording is $80 per hour. \u00a0Not included in event tech fee. \u00a0Is this something we want to gauge interest in as a possibility for the spring program? \u00a0Do we charge participants? \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lightning talks<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The board decided to extend the submission deadline to October 30th. \u00a0Board members should reach out to colleagues and encourage submissions relevant to the topic. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jessica will send out to the membership list as well with the updated submission deadline. \u00a0For all board members who sent out notices to lists please send out the updated submission deadline. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Membership meeting agenda items for fall program meeting:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jess will talk more at the fall meeting about student stipend award, the mentorship program and resume review<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The spring program will be announced.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ellie will give a financial update. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We would like to get feedback from members as to what kind of activities they are interested in the chapter pursuing. \u00a0Jess will add a simple tear off sheet to the program with a few questions asking for feedback. \u00a0ACRL Maryland provides small opportunities for engagement for example journal club. \u00a0This wouldn\u2019t be a recurring commitment \u00a0&#8211; one article\/one meeting. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">November 10, 2017, 3PM next meeting to be held virtually.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>10\/19\/2017 ACRL DVC Board Meeting Minutes In attendance: Nancy Bellafante, Sarah Wingo.
